Hoisin Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Ingredients

  • 450g minced chicken
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water chestnuts, chopped
  • 2 spring onions, chopped
  • lettuce leaves (like iceberg, romaine, or butter lettuce)

Instructions

  1. Heat the sesame oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Add the minced chicken to the pan. Cook, breaking up the meat with a spoon, until browned and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. In a small bowl, mix the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Add this sauce to the pan once the chicken is cooked.
  4. Stir in the chopped water chestnuts and half of the spring onions. Cook for another minute, allowing the flavours to combine.
  5. Wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Separate them into individual cups.
  6. Spoon the chicken mixture into each lettuce leaf. Top with remaining spring onions.
