Ingredients
- 6 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp grated ginger
- 1 tbsp sriracha or chilli sauce
- 1 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- sesame seeds
- spring onions, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 200°C.
- In a large bowl, combine the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, sriracha and Chinese five-spice powder. Mix well.
- Add the chicken thighs to the bowl, ensuring they are evenly coated with the marinade.
- Place the marinated chicken thighs in the air fryer basket in a single layer and cook for 10 minutes, flipping the chicken halfway through, until the chicken is cooked through and has a sticky, caramelized glaze.
- While the chicken is cooking, pour the remaining marinade into a small saucepan. Mix the cornstarch with 1/4 cup water to make a slurry, then add it to the marinade.
- Cook the sauce over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens.
- Transfer the cooked chicken thighs to a serving plate. Drizzle with the thickened sauce and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions.
