Ingredients

  • 6 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp sriracha or chilli sauce
  • 1 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • sesame seeds
  • spring onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 200°C.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, sriracha and Chinese five-spice powder. Mix well.
  3. Add the chicken thighs to the bowl, ensuring they are evenly coated with the marinade.
  4. Place the marinated chicken thighs in the air fryer basket in a single layer and cook for 10 minutes, flipping the chicken halfway through, until the chicken is cooked through and has a sticky, caramelized glaze.
  5. While the chicken is cooking, pour the remaining marinade into a small saucepan. Mix the cornstarch with 1/4 cup water to make a slurry, then add it to the marinade.
  6. Cook the sauce over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens.
  7. Transfer the cooked chicken thighs to a serving plate. Drizzle with the thickened sauce and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions.
