Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced garlic and cook until it becomes golden and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the caramelised onions from the jar to the pan and stir well to combine with the garlic.
  5. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the mixture is heated through.
  6. Pour in the white wine or vegetable stock to deglaze the pan, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom.
  7. Let the liquid simmer for about 2-3 minutes until it reduces slightly.
  8. Add the cooked spaghetti to the pan and toss well to coat with the garlic and caramelised onion mixture.
  9. If the pasta looks dry, gradually add some of the reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency.
  10. Season with red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper to taste.
  11. Toss in the grated Parmesan cheese, mixing well and garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
