Quick Chilli Beef

The ridiculously simple Quick Chilli Beef is perfect for a midweek meal and packed full of flavour.

Ingredients

  • 500g beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tsp sweet chilli sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped, for garnish
  • sesame seeds, for garnish
  • 1 cup Basmati rice

Instructions

  1. Start by cooking the rice according to the package instructions. Add 1 cup of rice with 2 cups of cold water and bring to a boil and simmer with the lid on for 10 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sweet chilli sauce, minced garlic, and minced ginger.
  3. Add the sliced beef to the marinade and toss until evenly coated.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  5. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  6. In the same pan, add a bit more oil if needed and add sliced red and green bell peppers, and onion. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  7. Return the cooked beef to the pan with the vegetables and stir everything together until well combined and heated through.
  8. Garnish with chopped spring onions and sesame seeds.
  9. Serve with the rice.
