Ingredients

  • 2 cooked smoked mackerel fillets, skin removed
  • 85g cream cheese, softened
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 small clove garlic, minced
  • 1 head of butter lettuce or romaine lettuce, leaves separated
  • 1 small cucumber, julienned
  • 1 small carrot, julienned

Instructions

  1. Start by removing the skin from the cooked mackerel fillets. Use your fingers or a small knife to gently peel it off, ensuring there are no bones.
  2. In a medium bowl, break up the mackerel into small chunks using a fork.
  3. Add the softened cream cheese, lemon juice, fresh dill and minced garlic.
  4. Mix everything together until smooth and well combined. You can leave some small chunks of mackerel for texture or make it smoother depending on your preference.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Lay the separated lettuce leaves on a plate.
  7. Spoon a generous amount of the mackerel pâté into each lettuce leaf.
  8. Top with julienned cucumber and carrot strips.
  9. Drizzle a little extra lemon juice on top.
  10. Serve the wraps with lemon wedges on the side for garnish.
